Katie Toth received her Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher Training over 14 weeks in India in 2009 and 2012 and specializes in working with aging bodies; she has been a member of MMC since January of 2012. Hatha Yoga was developed to help yogis realize the mind-body connection; to help us sit with more ease during their meditation postures, to help align the body for alertness and to keep energy flowing effortlessly. As meditators, one hinderance to longer sits or being on the floor as opposed to a chair, is physical discomfort. Our hips are home to roughly 17 muscles that affect our low back, knees and the hips themselves. Our hips are also an attachment hub for many of our other muscles so therefore, targeting hip stretches is a great way to open up or liberate the pelvis so we can sit with more ease and for longer.
This half day workshop will help you target your body’s specific needs, help you find and work towards a stable sitting base and show you some therapeutic ways to work on loosening the hips, hamstrings, psoas and other muscles surrounding the pelvis.
Materials needed: Yoga mat, 1-2 folded blankets or towels, 1 yoga strap (or belt), 1-2 tennis balls; enough wall space to lie on the ground and put your legs up the wall and enough space to be able to separate your legs 90 degrees in each direction while against the wall.
Can also be done from a chair. Still need a strap, wall space and tennis balls.

Retreat Time: 1 pm to 5 pm EST; 12 pm to 4 pm CST; 11 am to 3 pm MST; 10 am to 2pm PST.
