Meditations on Emptiness:

The Cultivation of Direct Perception

Michael Gregory

Michael Gregory is a former Buddhist Monk, Teacher and Executive Director of Mindfulness Meditation Centers. Michael has shared that there can never be enough gratitude to repay the debt of kindness that others have shown [him], in particular the XIV Dalai Lama, the XVII Karmapa--Ogen Trinley Dorje, Gyaltsab Rinpoche, Bokar Rinpoche, Thrangu Rinpoche and Penor Rinpoche who have empowered and showered upon [him] the highest teachings.

Michael has joyfully instructed a continuous stream of educated and experienced practitioners of all levels and backgrounds in Thailand, India, Hong Kong, Europe and the United States. He has led hundreds of meditation retreats on almost every subject matter related to Buddhism, in addition to leading meditative journeys throughout Thailand, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, and India - further connecting students and friends with their studies and practice.

Michael currently directs the practicing and teaching schedule at Mindfulness Meditation Centers. He is the Three Year Retreat Master for our current retreat in Southern California. He is leading a vibrant local and international online and in person community of practitioners.

He is based in California with visits to Colorado and Florida as well as on-line meditation classes.

The Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness retreat will offer a series of meditation practices on the most profound aspect of the Buddha’s teachings. The idea is that by beginning with one’s first rather coarse common sense understanding of emptiness, one progresses through increasingly subtle and more refined stages until one arrives at complete and perfect understanding. Each stage in the process prepares the mind for the next in so far as each step is fully integrated into one’s understanding through the meditation process.

“The Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness is a seminal teaching and systematic method of instruction taught by Lama Michael Gregory.  Profound and concise, the teachings will offer a transformative way for sincere students at any level of study to connect with the experience of the ultimate nature of self, mind and reality known as emptiness.

Emptiness meditations are an eminently practical tool to familiarize ourselves with the notoriously difficult Buddhist notion of emptiness through a gradual approach and Lama Michael will make it a personal experience in all its facets for each yogi and participant in the retreat.
