THE ILLUSTRIOUS DOCTRINE
HOW DOES A BUDDHA THINK, SPEAK, AND ACT?
In order to understand how a Buddha thinks, speaks and acts, one needs to understand the basis of the nature of a Buddha. While the true nature of a Buddha is in every sentient being, it remains as a potential, for each being, because it is disguised by a false view of reality.
A Buddha thinks, speaks, and acts based on a pure view of reality. When it is revealed, by removing all disguises, a true view of reality becomes the basis of Buddha thought, speech and action.
To understand this true reality, one needs to understand, the foundation of this pure view. This understanding is grounded in two main foundations of practice: The Ten Great Vows, and The Illustrious Doctrine, of the six Perfections of the Bodhisattva.
The Buddha is one who realizes that this “Illustrious Doctrine” is not one thing and the embracer of the “Illustrious Doctrine” is something else. The embracer of the “Illustrious Doctrine” is himself or herself the Illustrious Doctrine. Neither is he different from the Perfections, nor are those different than the embracer of the “Illustrious Doctrine”.
“Lord, that embracer of the the Illustrious Doctrine is himself or herself the Perfections.”
