What is a Buddhist? Why does it matter, or, does it matter? With Phillip Hedrick
Over several thousand years Buddhism’s essential simplicity has become inconceivable, complex, vast, and deep. It’s difficult to not relate to this nonreligious and non- theistic practice as anything but theoretical and religious. Buddhism has traveled to very diverse parts of the world resulting in an accumulation of ancient and modern cultural characteristics. This amazing journey across space and time has made it more and more complicated to decipher the essential nature of Buddhism.
Theistic trappings such as incense, bells, multicolored hats, produce an almost endless stream of things to attract people’s attention, but at the same time can become obstacles that divert us from the essence of what the Buddha taught.
Join us for this weekend as we explain and practice the essence of the Buddha’s four basic truths called the “Four Seals”. You will learn how uncomplicated it actually is and how to apply these simple truths to end a life of suffering.
