Namaste HospiceEnriching and rewarding experiences are the norm for volunteers at Namaste Hospice.

Hospice is a special kind of compassionate care offered to patients and the people who love them. It focuses on management of the patient and family's experience of the illness, stressing comfort, dignity, and quality of life, rather than curative treatment. Namaste's program is set up to empower patients to define what "quality of life" means to them, and to make informed decisions about how they want to live and die. The viewpoint is that death is not a failure, that dying well, on one's own terms, is an ultimate success.

Volunteers are an essential and integral part of each patient's interdisciplinary team. Whether you have a lot of time or a little, whether you are available on a regular or random basis, you can be a part of Namaste Hospice, enhancing the lives of patients and their families while enriching your own. This is excellent practice for members of our community.

As a volunteer, you choose how you want to assist patients. Volunteer services include patient and family support, companionship, healing arts, bereavement services, office assistance, and community outreach.

Volunteer training is 20 hours, and sessions occur periodically throughout the year. Please refer to Namaste's website for contact information and volunteer applications. Or you may contact Manny Santos, our Namaste representative, for more information.

We encourage all interested persons to consider volunteering for Namaste Hospice.
