Mindfulness Meditation Classes in Orlando

Michael Gregory, Director of Mindfulness Meditation Centers has, with regret, announced that MMC is discontinuing classes in Orlando, effective immediately.  

We invite you to remain a member of MMC to listen to our recorded classes online: either audio or video, posted on Vimeo. Please visit our website: www.mindfulnessmeditationcenters.com and click on the tab labeled "Teachings" at the top of the home page.

We also invite you to remain on our email list for information about classes in Sarasota and about retreats at our lovely retreat center in Palmetto. Please contact Bonnie to be added to Sarasota emails: mmc.bonnie@gmail.com. MMC members may attend weekend retreats for a small utilities charge and longer retreats for a 50% discount.

Meditation Orlando is dedicated to providing crystal-clear teaching about mindfulness meditation as taught by the Buddha. Our goal is to share a method of meditating and mental development that is practical, non-institutional, approachable and livable.

We may spend time developing our bodies: time in gyms, on jogging trails and in yoga classes. All with the intention to be more physically healthy and happy. The mind can be developed in the same way - towards happiness and health. With mindfulness meditation, we seek to train our minds towards a deeper happiness not dependent on external circumstances.

Investigating the premise that stress and tension can be decreased and ended through meditation is worth your investigation. Your mind can be developed. You can be happier, in a more deep and sustaining way. At times it can be joyful and at times, challenging - yet meditation practice is always worth the effort.

A Practical Approach to Mindfulness

Meditation Orlando offers crystal-clear teaching and individual guidance in Buddhist mindfulness meditation and philosophy with two classes each week as well as monthly weekend retreats at our center south of Sarasota. Our teachers "walk the walk" with a long history of both deep retreat and daily practice, and extensive study of the teachings of mindfulness, insight and liberation. As Westerners, the teaching staff approaches meditation training from the perspective of one engaged in modern daily life, earning a living and facing modern daily challenges.

Drop-ins and beginners are always welcome for classes or retreats, regardless of their background or experience. Our goal is to share authentic mindfulness teaching in a way that is both joyful and applicable to your life.

Mindfulness is the essential skill that leads to the ability to live a happier, more peaceful life. We may have tried to pursue happiness through many external means like careers, families, hobbies, intoxicants and more. The challenge with these pursuits is that they are constantly changing and our happiness is temporary. So we chase and consume more and more experiences in a futile attempt to maintain an unattainable goal.

With mindfulness meditation, we learn to familiarize ourselves with this situation through coming to terms with our internal landscape. The recognition of the impermanence of all phenomena is the first step in learning to transcend the craving of happiness through external pursuits.

As mindfulness increases, we develop the ability to enjoy our lives and pursuits for what they are. Changing phenomena which can be experienced and enjoyed in the present moment with the craving reduced and eventually eliminated. This leads to a happier, more joyful and peaceful life.
